Lower back pain can affect both men and women between the age group of 30 and 50. In most of the cases, the back pain goes away within a few days, but in some cases, it might be persistent, and could cause a serious condition. There are different techniques for treating lower back pain. These are as follows:
Rest. A few days of bed rest(usually not more than 2 or 3 days) is suggested by the doctors to reduce the lower back pain.
Medications. Such as no steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAID), are used to relieve the lower back pain. Stronger medications, such as muscle relaxants, and narcotics are also used for treating lower back pain, but these are used for shorter duration of time to avoid addiction.
Injections. Generally, local anesthetics and/or steroids can also be used for treating lower back pain. These are given in the area of lower back pain, that is in the disks.
Exercise and Stretching. Exercises can be done to restore the strength to the painful lower back. Different exercises, such as jogging, cycling, swimming, and walking are suggested.
